Lean Solutions for Mean Times: Finding New Value by Putting Stranded Data to Work
November 18, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm UTC-5
Overlapping crises throughout 2020 have revealed the importance of real-time information for local and state government, as well as those who design cities, to make urgent choices. Tough decisions are being made each day as municipal and state officials continue confronting revenue losses. It is often impossible to access the full picture necessary for decision-making when information is siloed across different agencies, partners and stakeholders, preventing data-informed decision-making, sometimes with little time to spare.
With many capital improvement projects and budgets on the line for 2021, lean budgets will demand more focus on citizen engagement, transparency and collaboration across agencies and silos to develop consensus for critical go/no-go decisions about growing, stopping or maintaining public investments. New data tools have the ability to analyze massive amounts of data by looking for patterns while we search, reveal, and manage information for faster and more efficient decision-making. By using a common platform on the cloud, all stakeholders can view organized and unified data sets to produce more informed and effective choices.
Dassault Systèmes has helped cities build ‘virtual twins’ to model and visualize current and future situations, by aggregating existing data from multiple sources and agencies into a common data environment. SHoP Architects will share how we can leverage digital tools beyond individual building design and construction and apply it to the entire urban scale to better understand the impact on infrastructure, streets, and public life. Together, Dassault Systèmes and SHoP will share how they simulate and analyze complex scenarios, validate decisions, and facilitate the management of public projects to elevate citizen satisfaction and trust. Join us as we discuss digital tools for improving quality of life in our cities.
