Expanding Transportation Options for Adults with Mental Illness

(3:00 pm ET). This webinar, presented by SAMHSA's GAINS Center, will provide an overview of promising practices and strategies being tested around transporting people in crisis or showing symptoms of mental illness. Transportation of adults with mental illness, whether in crisis or needing to be transferred between treatment facilities, is often done in law enforcement vehicles. There is a growing interest in establishing alternatives to law enforcement transport of adults with mental illness. Alternative transport can provide a less stigmatizing experience for the individual in crisis, minimize the trauma of transport on an individual, and reduce the time demands placed on law enforcement.
