Event: Bicycle Friendly Driver Course for Transit Operators
About the Session:
Taught from a motorist’s point-of-view, this course helps transit operators learn to navigate roadways safely and legally with people on bikes. The instructor will review laws for motorists and bicyclists, share insight behind bicycle infrastructure design, and provide guidance on how to avoid common crashes. Participants will gain a broader understanding of human behavior and how it applies to the decisions we all make while traveling on our roads.
Learning Objectives:
• Identify how most crashes involving bicyclists and motorists occur.
• Learn the safest ways to drive when bicyclists are present.
• Develop an understanding of bicyclist behavior on roadways.
