Bill Wagner recently joined the NCMM team as Deputy Director.
Bill brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his previous role as the Director of the Getthere Mobility Management Program in Binghamton New York. Over his six-year tenure, Bill oversaw a five-county regional mobility management program that included the Getthere Call Center, a non-emergency medical transportation program (Connection to Care), a rural and urban regional travel training program (How do I Getthere), a volunteer transportation program, and most recently a transportation to employment program. Bill has been actively involved in human services coordinated planning in multiple counties, age friendly transportation services and, transportation to meet COVID related needs.
“I grew up in a rural area where transportation has always been a barrier to accessing healthcare, food, employment, and other relevant needs for the health for individuals as well as many communities. Prior to joining NCMM, I had several years’ experience working in human services. One of the constant barriers to improving quality of life for individuals I worked with was always transportation. It was this realization that led me to the mobility management field and eventually to NCMM.
I have had the opportunity to benefit from both CTAA and NCMM over the years. I have learned and taking advantage of the services, technical assistance, and expertise for many years, in several different ways. I have always felt closely aligned with the NCMM mission to promote customer-centered mobility strategies that advance good health, economic vitality, self-sufficiency, and community. I am excited and look forward to contributing to the work of the NCMM team and interacting and assisting many of you across the country. I feel strongly that my experience will translate to other regions, and I look forward to sharing my experience with you as well as learning from you.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in rural upstate New York and for most of my life, called the Southern Tier home. It was in this rural setting that I developed my passion for hiking, kayaking, and riding motorcycle. I will soon be calling Northern Virginia home and seeking new places to enjoy these modes of relaxation. I have two daughters, one working for the University of Rochester in research and my youngest in Boston working for Education First. I am energized by this new chapter in my life and looking forward to working with programs around the country.”
