The Future of Transportation in California

November 19, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm UTC-5

California has countless miles of roads and innumerable public transportation systems moving its nearly forty million residents around the state. While no single agency exclusively determines the state’s transportation future, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) comes close. The department manages more than 50,000 miles of highway and freeway lanes across California, as well as inter-city rail services, permitting for more than 400 public-use airports and much more. In 2019, Toks Omishakin was appointed director of Caltrans. In that role, Director Omishakin has been working to create a safe, sustainable and multimodal state transportation system that prioritizes local communities and relies on local partnerships. Join us for a conversation with Director Omishakin about what it will take to achieve his long-term mobility, equity and climate goals and build a transportation system that works for all.

Co-presented by the Bay Area Council, Seamless Bay Area, Silicon Valley Leadership Group, TransForm and Vision Zero Network
