Lenawee Co. (MI) to hire mobility manager to streamline transportation options

  • Date: 11/11/2020

Trying to navigate the county’s transportation services can be difficult. Community Action Agency’s (CAA) Clint Brugger describes it as a “bowl of spaghetti.” There are a number of different services but it can be confusing to residents to determine which one is the best service for them. Each service has different eligibility and parameters that must be met.

A recent grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation aims to change that. CAA and the Lenawee Transportation Task Force received a grant worth more than $60,000 from MDOT for a mobility manager.

The Lenawee Transportation Task Force in its current form was established in 2015. It is a collection of representatives from a number of agencies and organizations in Lenawee County such as CAA, Department on Aging, Department of Human Services, Michigan Works Southeast as well as stakeholders in the economic development sector. Headed up by Misty Shulters of Michigan Works, the task force focuses on solutions to rural transportation.

The grant allows the task force to hire a mobility manager whose main responsibility will be untangling that bowl of spaghetti.
