A major change in public transportation policy could make it easier for a significant part of the labor force to take public transit to work from the far reaches of eastern Lee County (FL).
LeeTran, the county's mass transit agency, is seeking a state grant to move beyond a traditional bus network in Lehigh Acres where service is largely confined to busy thoroughfares.
Instead, the county would move to a transit plan that includes a mobility-on-demand pick-up service and a park and ride center to make it easier for residents from Lehigh neighborhoods to join the regional transportation grid without their cars.
